KINC CREATES LIGHTING FIXTURES FOR HISTORIC LAKE STREET THEATER

THE COMMUNICATION CHALLENGE
How do you create modern lighting fixtures that seamlessly blend in at a historic movie theater?

Nationally recognized for the quality of its renovation and preservation of architectural artifacts salvaged from other “Golden Age” cinemas across the country, Oak Park’s historic Lake Street Theater needed to add lighting on the sides of the movie screen. noted architect and Theater Historian Joseph DuciBella turned to Kinc to design and deliver elegant Art Deco-style lighting that would blend seamlessly with Lake Street’s vintage pieces.

THE DESIGN SOLUTION
Working with noted architect and Theater Historian Joseph DuciBella, Kinc designed two 10-foot tall bas-relief medallions in the Art Deco style that would blend seamlessly with Lake Street’s vintage pieces.

Great idea! Now how do we build it?

KINC COMES TO THE RESCUE

Kinc's artist hand-carved the medallions, and treated each of them with a brushed aluminum finish. The medallions housed blue neon light fixtures, which back-lit the medallions with a soft glow.

THE IMPACT

Chosen from over 2,000 submissions, Design Journal Magazine recognized Kinc's Medallions with the prestigious ADEX Platinum Award for Design Excellence in the category of Architectural Details.
