LITTLE CHINA GIRL

KINC'S DANCER INVITES SHOPPERS TO THE DANCE

FOR WEDGWOOD CHINA'S 'BALLET' PRODUCT LAUNCH

THE COMMUNICATION CHALLENGE
How do you get busy Chicago shoppers to notice your dinnerware product launch event?

THE DESIGN SOLUTION
As special event decor for Wedgwood China's "Ballet" product launch at Marshall Field's flagship store in Chicago, Kinc designed a beautiful ballerina clothed in a graceful tutu made entirely of Wedgewood brand china plates, poised beneath a 40-foot cascade of slippers.

Great idea! Now, how do we build it?...
KINC COMES TO THE RESCUE
Leveraging their deep experience in theater design, Kinc reinforced a standard female mannequin with a steel hoopskirt to safely support the weight of 144 various-sized Wedgewood China plates. Finishing decor touches included a satin bodice featuring the "Ballet" product pattern, a pink ribbon wig, and a tulle underskirt. Shipped "unclothed," the dancer's plates were carefully numbered to assist the on site installation crew.

THE IMPACT
For the product launch, our dancer spent time both in a main store display window and as a special event decor centerpiece in Field's resturant, The Walnut Room.  Shoppers loved  the ballerina, posing with it, and posting their photos on social media sites. Marshall Field's  executives reported that  the piece was a major customer talking point during the product launch event.  Mission accomplished!

Kinc was honored to recieve First Place in the 2007 VMSD (Visual Merchandising and Store Design) International Visual Merchandising Competition for our "Little China Girl"
